Oh how the time flies these days. I hope you’re following me on social media, so you’re more up to date with my trips and life. I’m trying to get up to date with the stories here as well.
Let’s start with a little photo dumb from a visit to Spain to enjoy some sun in Mallorca and Alicante.
It’s been a dream of mine to visit Mallorca for a long time and now I had the best chance to go in the spring when it’s not so crowded there yet. We rented a car and toured around the island visiting beautiful coves and towns. It was way more nice than I ever imagined. Also the cycling culture there is amazing and I would definitely like to go back to have a focus in cycling only!
Hopefully you enjoy these photos!
Finding the Coordinates of Nature
In paid collaboration with - Ruka-Kuusamo Matkailu ry - Gateway to Land of National Parks -project
The coordinates of nature lead us to Ruka- Kuusamo at the beginning of this summer!
I have always thought that the key for a successful summer trip is a combination of rich nature, local food, fun activities and relaxation. Ruka-Kuusamo area is the perfect combination of these all, offering a great variety of services and activities regardless the season you decide to go for a visit.
Time of the visit: Mid June Weather: Sunny/Rainy/Cloudy Temperature: +12 - +15 Length of stay: 5 days
We started our trip cruising around Ruka with e-bikes. The diverse repertory of trails allowed us to enjoy the beautiful landscapes around us. We made our way to the top of the ski hill, which was fun with the e-bikes. For those who love biking, you may want to know that `Ruka Bike Park´ will be completely ready during autumn 2021.

We continued enjoying Ruka-Kuusamo while fishing in the beautiful and peaceful Kuusinkiriver on a guided fly fishing tour. I had been wanting to visit this river for a while.
Our awesome guide Mika showed us around and it only took us a minute to land the first fish. It can be easy when you’re with a local professional! After fishing for a while, little rain shower forced us to come out of the water for a bit to to enjoy a quick lunch by the fire. Definitely a memorable experience!

After a fun day fishing we rushed to Isokenkäisten Klubi, where a nice gourmet meal was waiting for us. Our dinner was served in a traditional Lappish hut ”Kota”, where we got to enjoy local delicacies and some of their own secret recipes! I could have stolen their “carrot caviar” recipe… It was amazing! One of the most exciting food experiences I’ve ever had!
And of course, what would a day be without a sauna? Isokenkäisten Klubi is located by a lake, so it was super nice to take a dip after their wonderful smoke sauna!

Overnight canoeing trip at Oulanka National Park was our next activity. 25 kilometers of diverse nature with unique forests and beautiful sandy shores provide a perfect setting for an amazing canoe trip. Kiutaköngäs-Jäkälämutka section of Oulankariver is good even for beginners and can be done in one day. However, we decided to divide the trip into two days and camp overnight in Nurmisaarenniemi in our tent.
Our adventure began with soft rain and ended with a beautiful foggy sunset. We were the only ones at Nurmisaarenniemi until the sunset and it was a good place to stay with designated place for a campfire with wood service. We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning and got to enjoy nice weather throughout the whole way out to Jäkälämutka.
Our canoes and transfer was organised by Rukapalvelu.
Last but not least, we decided to go for a morning hike to Konttainen. The hike takes about 15-25 minutes from the parking lot and gives you amazing views from the top. A few other of my favorite little day hikes in Ruka-Kuusamo area are Valtavaara, Pyhävaara and Riisitunturi.
Ruka has definitely fascinated us and we cannot wait go back soon!
Amazing active kind of holiday in Trentino, Italy
This trip was in collaboration with Visit Trentino. All the opinions and reviews are completely my own and truthful. I had such an amazing time and I can recommend it honestly!
I recently went on a winter adventure to Trentino, Italy . The local tourism board had chosen me to be the winter ambassador for the region, and my job was to experience some of the amazing activities and enjoy the culture the area has to offer.
People always make such a huge part of the adventures and the feeling the trip gives you. I had such an amazing experience with all the people in the hotels, guides and restaurants. I really only met people who love the place where they live and enjoy the work they are doing and you can definitely feel that!
Getting there:
Only a quick flight from Helsinki and a little road trip from Milan airport to the mountains and you can find yourself in the heart of the Dolomites skiing, ice climbing, snowshoeing or even riding huskies. There’s also a bus transfer available from the nearby airports!
Day activities:
Trentino area has a variety of different things to do, of course skiing being the most common thing out of them, which they for sure do well! There’s so many long and nicely groomed ski slopes, that we in the North can only dream of… except now by coming here! If you are not so keen to go to the slopes, you could go hiking or snowshoeing for example. There are many Refugio’s where you can hike up to and have a cup of coffee or enjoy lunch! Some more special things to do are paragliding and kite boarding which I also got to try. What an experience it was! I can’t forget bob sledding, which has to be one of the funnies things to do with your friends in the area!
Evenings:
After being outside doing all the fun activities it’s time to relax in the spa. Many of the hotels in the region have their own spa areas, which is super nice! After relaxing for a bit, it’s time to go and enjoy the amazing cuisine! There’s very nice traditional dishes available in Trentino and of course the Italian food and drink culture never disappoints anyone!!! I was able to see some nice family owned special restaurants, that were definitely something that stood out from the already nice range of restaurants.
Driving:
You are able to get around with a bus in the area, but I had a car for the whole time. The roads were well maintained and easy to drive. The mountain passes can be tricky especially if there’s fresh snow, but I only had to put on the chains once on my trip.
Here are the links to the regions I visited. You can plan your stay and see more about the areas!
San Martino di Castrozza
Val di Fiemme
Altopiano della Paganella
Madonna di Campiglio
Val di Fassa
Val di Sole
